In Solomon Islands- one stop to go!
A night in Honiara and early tomorrow morning the plan is to fly to Cairns and then Meereba to MAF. An important note as we fly N97PN these last legs in this ferry flight- the PN in the registration stands for Profielnorm, a Dutch family company started in 1997, who donated this aircraft to MAF.
Grateful to have the permits!
Long long flight over the Pacific Ocean today. 12 hours and 45 minutes There is not much land between Tarawa and Honolulu. Not much indeed. The only piece of land is a fascinating little place called Johnston’s atoll which was about 100 miles off our route. A number of years ago – when we were … More Grateful to have the permits!
Off we go
Sunday afternoon in Hawaii and we were fortunate to able to confirm fuel and landing permits all the way to Cairns, Australia! The way the permit and fuel confirmations went – Kiribati and not Marshall Islands. 6 am tomorrow morning we will set off for Tarawa, Kiribati and then the following day – the plan … More Off we go
Up in the air…
Funny how there are a few ways to say – “up in the air” We were to be “up in the air” today – we actually were “up in the air” for about an hour today- but not in the direction or location planned and anticipated for – and so – the route to Australia … More Up in the air…
Crossing the 4000 km expanse
Flying across this massive expanse of water I got to thinking about the people who went before us. So I did a little research. In reading about aviation history I also got to thinking about MAF and the work done by their pilots and staff and donors. They too are stretching the feats of aviation … More Crossing the 4000 km expanse
Flying across America
What is often such an incredibly beautiful flight across America ended up being a lot of high cloud and freezing rain. (Yes – icing in New Mexico!). The first 2 hours was spent changing altitudes to remain clear of any freezing conditions. Icing is a danger pilots learn about early on. Ice adds weight and … More Flying across America

Iceland to the Netherlands
We will leave N201KM here – where it will depart in the next while for Australia then to Papua New Guinea. Thank you for joining along
Greenland
After a long flight- Dylan and I spent a day in the capital city of Greenland – Nuuk – to flight plan and stretch our legs for a day.
Beautiful flight north!
Flying over the Canadian north I wondered how much of the world is uninhabited- 57%- and 80% of Canada. We were approximately 3 hours from our destination when weather was getting worse than forecasted in Nuuk. As well, it appeared that we would have to hold over Greenland for an hour and half before landing … More Beautiful flight north!
Two flights from Kansas to the Netherlands
This August there are two aircraft deliveries from Moundridge, Kansas – (where they are fitted with ferry tanks ) to their first destination – Teuge, Netherlands- before heading off to where they will be put to work for MAF International. Last week Dylan picked up the brand new Caravan from Witchita, Kansas and brought it … More Two flights from Kansas to the Netherlands
Another trip completed
What a wonderful trip. One that started a few months ago when O’Danis and Dylan flew it to England. The plane was visited by the King – amongst other people- and we then picked it up and came here. This is a journey that began in Wichita to Winnipeg, Manitoba to Quebec City to St … More Another trip completed
