Leaving Sal, Cape Verde Our route flying to Conakry,Guinea Beautiful winding rivers in Guinea Bissau. There are 6 major rivers in this country. So fortunate to have clear skies today. Typically when we’ve flown over West Africa it has been cloudy Flying into Guinea Flying into Conakry, Guinea. Such a big city! Guinea is rich in natural resources and boasts a third of bauxite reserves used for making aluminum and is rich in iron,gold and diamonds. Despite this – Guinea is one of the poorest countries and one of the least developed in the world Filling ferry tanks We were very fortunate to stay with the MAF family here – John and Lisa Blomberg and their 5 very cute kids. Lisa took us for a walk in their neighborhood to get some groceries. Lisa spoke of how friendly people are in this country And chocolate from a locally run chocolate store- locally grown and operated by a group of women. Early morning departure. We left the house at 6am- a remarkable difference in traffic at this time of the day!
