Ferry flight to DRC- up over the Atlantic – destination- Africa

Up early and away over the Azores. We had arrived early at the airport hoping to depart before 7- however we discovered this morning that the airport fees would have been significantly more if the chalks came off before 7- so we waited:)
Calm waters- clear skies- and lost our fantastic tail wind. Our flight today close to 10 hours
I found it interesting to see where N717RD flew today in relation to the world. Approaching the African coast line and over the Atlantic Ocean. It is surprising to me how little land there is between theses continents despite the vastness of the Ocean- and – I am so curious about the Ocean. Our son had the question of the summer- would you rather see the bottom of the ocean or space? – I pick ocean! However I’m grateful we didn’t get a closer look or feel of the ocean today during our crossing:)

Our route today takes us to Cape Verde. The third island on our route- first Newfoundland- then an island in the Azores and now an island in Cape Verde

Sal island,Cape Verde
Beautiful coastline
Another fast forward landing

My first thought- Cape Verde as Greenland – despite their names – are not too green! Oh the history and irony of names.

Fuelling up and preparing for the next leg Conakry, Guinea. Tomorrow I will learn and share more about this island country in Africa.

  1. Fantastic journey guys.
Your interest in the ocean- you and Dylan must try scuba diving, unbelievable what’s down there!
And a great sport for a couple to enjoy together.
