Beautiful flight north!

Up early, wheels up at 5 am out of Winnipeg. What a view for a first cuppa coffee
Our planned route from Winnipeg to Nuuk, Greenland
Flying over the Hudson’s Bay close to James Bay. This is the area where the famed English explorer Henry Hudson was set adrift by the sailors on his boat who mutinied after they wanted to go home
The tundra of the far north Quebec. This vast land covers 72% of the land in Quebec

Flying over the Canadian north I wondered how much of the world is uninhabited- 57%- and 80% of Canada.

The Canadian coastline as we flew over the North Atlantic.

We were approximately 3 hours from our destination when weather was getting worse than forecasted in Nuuk. As well, it appeared that we would have to hold over Greenland for an hour and half before landing because of airport regulations. At this point we decided to detour to Iqaluit where we could refuel and determine if the weather would improve

I will share a few more photos of the incredible Canadian North
A home on the tundra
Their backyard. (If you look closely you can see the small white home)
Flying into Iqaluit – a city in Baffin Island surrounded by such a vast tundra and mountains
Because I love the north and heart shaped lakes I will share a few more shots:)
Departing Canada once again
Crossing the cold cold North Atlantic and coming into clouds
All the way to Nuuk
Fuelling up for our next leg to Reykjavik, Iceland
