Indonesia to Singapore

As we waited for our morning departure I had time to read a little more about this region of Indonesia.

Right by the tarmac there was a large gathering of people commemorating a religious holiday

The province of Aceh is considered to be “the Veranda of Mecca” due to its strong Islamic heritage and its geographical location facing Saudi Arabia.

This province- Aceh is considered to be the most staunchly conservative Islamic community in Indonesia. Aceh is the only province in this – the world’s most populous Muslim country – that implements the Islamic law – Shariah.

Learning about their very conservative reputation came as a surprise. I’m not sure what I would have been expecting but we were so warmly received and the only hard time Dylan was given was the kids laughing about his bald head!
Beautiful flight today! Crops just outside Banda Aceh
And we continued over the lush mountains
What a difference between here and the desert mountains of Oman
Communities high in the mountains. We are flying at 13000 ft
The coast line of Indonesia
Large mine on Mendol island in Indonesia. We held and flew around this area for about 20 minutes waiting for bad weather to clear over Singapore
So many ships and boats holding by the Singapore harbour
City country of Singapore
Iconic Singapore site!

Tomorrow the plan is to Lombok
