Flying across the Arabian desert

Up early in the morning after an evening of form filling- declarations and visas – overflight permits- preparing for our legs to follow. The evenings after a flight are full of flight planning. However a stressful evening led to flying across the desert in Saudi Arabia . Wow! Who gets to do this?!?!

Whenever we’ve been to Egypt the airport takes us in a big bus the very short distance to the airplane

Our route today- flying in this part of the world I am always surprised how close the counties are and where they are It was a clear day and a beautiful flight – so again – many pictures are coming

The Arabian desert is remarkable and ever changing. I have so many photos – I had to stop myself

Throughout the desert were small- such remote communities.

A section of the desert was so black and the sand resembled lava I discovered later that this desert has a number of lava fields known as harrats reflecting the volcanic history of this region

Flying along the Persian Gulf

Incredible mountains flying into Muscat,Oman

Fuelling after our 8 hour and 50 minute flight. Tomorrow up and flying by 7 and off to the Maldives
