Azores to Porto

Second last leg! New city but the same country. Neither my dad or I had been to Porto so it was exciting to arrive to a new place for the both of us.

However, it was a little hard to say goodbye to the Azores. A sunny morning and next to no wind, it truly feels like a slice of paradise there.

Unlike our approach into the island the departure was clear and we had an amazing view.

The flight to Porto was around five hours and for the most part clear. We did have to climb and descend a few times throughout the flight to avoid icing and clouds.

Arriving into Porto we were pleasantly surprised by the weather. We had anticipated wind and rain and were given a beautiful clear sky.

We were met by our handler who helped up fuel up the aircraft for our last leg of this voyage and who after drove us to our hotel.

Porto is a city full of old churches, small side streets and bustling with locals, tourists and of course tins upon tins of sardines! I have never been a fan of sardines but I am a sucker for packaging so could not resist purchasing a few tins to bring home.

We learnt that J.K Rowling spent a lot of time in Porto while writing Harry Potter. Porto is home to one of the oldest libraries in the world and J.K Rowling Hogwarts was heavily based off of this library. We did not get a chance to visit this library but I can totally see how this city would be an inspiring place to write a novel.

Tomorrow is our last leg of this Journey! It has been such an amazing opportunity to be apart of this adventure and it will be sad to part ways with this Caravan that has taken us so far!
