Flying up the coast of Peru

I will share one more fantastic Chilean wall mural from the lovely town of Arica. Our handler said the driest town in the world!
Leaving Chile and right away entering Peru – the landscape changed dramatically right at the border
Some pretty remarkable farm land – in the desert.
Farms literally against the sand dunes.
It was a remarkable flight today and I will error in posting too many pictures I think – just in an attempt to cover some of what we saw
The road from on top of the sand dune and goes down to the coast – what a drive that would be!
A little coffee break before to climbing to 13,000 feet to get above the mountains. We have a fantastic battery operated expresso maker – which makes this – I think one of the best baristas in the world with an incredible view
Flying into Reserva Nacional San Fernando – on the Pacific side
Looking out the window on the reserve on the Andes side. The colours were breathtaking
Pacific side again. This rugged coastal wilderness is lodged between 2 river mouths.
There are penguins, sea lions and otters here as well as guanacos and condors which come from the mountains to feed here.
Beyond these mountains are the Nazca Lines- ancient geoplyphs with an unknown origin
A photo of one of the Nazca Lines that I found online. It would have been remarkable to fly over!
The mountains continue
A remote community on top of the mountain
A straight road in the desert
Interesting formations in the sand as we came into Pisco
Pisco – desert city surrounded by green
Garden patchwork
River bed as we landed in Pisco
Fuelling up and going though customs – they were very helpful
The desert continued north. I had no idea that the coast line pretty well from Santiago to the north of Peru is desert.
Descending into Trujillo – where we will stay for the night – again – a garden city in the sand
Trujillo, Peru
Before I go – I will share our route with you. Tomorrow we fly to Manta, Ecuador for fuel, then plan to go to Panama – we await permits for landing there – so we are hoping that will happen tomorrow morning. From there we fly to Jamaica then to Florida – and then fly through America to Minneapolis.
