One year later and Dylan and I are off on another ferry flight to Australia – Meereba. Last year exactly at this time we we on our way to Kinshasa, Congo – east rather than west and heading over the Pacific rather than the Atlantic – and towards a country of 102 million and covering an area of 2344,885 km compared to a country of 26 million and covering 7688,287 km.

And now a new journey begins…
We plan to pick up the Caravan tomorrow- N9710M -in Moundridge, Kansas. This is where the aircraft has been fitted for ferry tanks (fuel tanks put in the aircraft which are linked to the fuel system and allow us to fuel en route) We then plan to fly to Santa Maria, California – our departure point to cross the Pacific Ocean.
I have learned from writing these blogs – when anticipating our next legs for the journey – to say “we plan” rather than “we will”. As with most adventures in life – as the saying goes – “best made plans…”. It is always good to start with a plan and then go from there. We had actually planned to go last week however there were some delays – and it looks like it is a go for this week.
We certianly appreciate you joining along. This really is one of our favorite things to do.
This Caravan is being delivered to Mareeba in Far North Queensland

Mareeba is where M.A.F. has a facility which is used to serve maintenance needs for field aircraft and supports their programs in Arnhem Land, Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste.
For those new to this blog – you can find out more about M.A.F. and ferry flying from those sections found in the menu of this blog.
This aircraft has been made possible from the generous donation from David and Alison Dorricott, directors of the software company – AFD, the Postcode People, in Isle of Man.
In January, 2024, during a 2 day visit, they experienced the impactful work of MAF’s service in rural PNG. They were able to see first hand how their gift to MAF of a brand new Cessna Caravan will make a difference in many lives. The aircraft is currently registered as N9710M and will be changed to P2-AFD – after the name of their company – afd.co.uk and represents their country of origin – Isle Of Man.

M.A.F. is able to provide the services they do around the world because of the goodwill of its supporters.
The day is late here, and we will see where tomorrow will take us all:)
